3 Programmes des études supérieures - École des sciences infirmières First term in Graduate School Before you begin  Review the entire content of the Student Guide.  Thoroughly review the School of Nursing - Graduate Programs Website.  Contact your Research Supervisor or Interim Advisor.  Complete your program plan.

4 Programmes des études supérieures - École des sciences infirmières First term in Graduate School Before you begin  Familiarize yourself with the FGPS regulations, policies, requirements and procedures.  Attend and enjoy the activities planned during orientation week. (A lot of tips for graduate student success)  Find out about all scholarship deadlines and application procedures.  Become oriented to the Campus and Roger Guindon Hall (Offices, buildings, departments, people, GSAÉD, libraries, etc..)

5 Programmes des études supérieures - École des sciences infirmières First term in Graduate School As you begin…  Be proactive – take responsibility for your own graduate experience.  Establish a positive relationship with your supervisor.  Create and follow an annual workplan and timelines.

Learn from other students.  Repect your program requirements and deadlines.  Seek balance and support in your life.

7 Programmes des études supérieures - École des sciences infirmières Your thesis or Nursing intervention  Think about your concept of interest as as soon as you begin your program.  Set up regular time to talk with your supervisor, your professors, your classmate about research topics.  Present your progress at TEC or PIPS.

8 Programmes des études supérieures - École des sciences infirmières Your thesis or Nursing intervention  Create a draft timeline for your thesis or developing your Nursing intervention.  As soon as you have a topic of interest conduct a comprehensive literature search. Read and read. Write and write.  Consult the ressources on our Web site under Thesis.

9 Programmes des études supérieures - École des sciences infirmières Information exchange  The home page of the Web site will become the main mean of communication.  Consult the Graduate Programs Bulletin Board on the 3 rd floor in front of my office (3054).  Major reduction of electronic mail. When we need to use email to communicate with students on the ……. @uottawa.ca address will be used.
