11 Faire la bise 2 kisses (one on each cheek) upon meeting and leaving
Informal- family and friends do this Between men, la bise is less common, but acceptable between close friends and family If you do not “faire la bise” you will shake hands as a greeting It is RUDE to not give a proper greeting in France.

You’re saying good night to a group of French friends You’re greeting your French neighbor in the morning. A French colleague in your office is going home at the end of the day You’re arriving at your hotel and are greeting the man at reception Bonjour. Ça va ? Bonsoir, Monsieur. Au revoir. À demain. Bonne nuit, tout le monde.

One dialogue is a meeting between you and a friend The other between you and a teacher. Things to consider: Bonjour OU salut ? Ça va OU Comment allez-vous ? Faire la bise ou non ?
