3 Quelques conseils Ne pas essayer de traduire mot à mot. Il ne sagit pas de trouver un équivalent français pour chaque mot anglais. Cest avant tout votre compréhension globale de la phrase et votre aptitude à en rendre compte de manière intelligible qui sera appréciée.

5 Autres Conseils Par ex: UTILISER DES MOTS DUNE AUTRE CATEGORIE GRAMMATICALE Ex :The nurse asked him if he was in pain. (nom) Traduction littérale: Linfirmière lui a demandé sil était dans la douleur. Traduction correcte : Linfirmière lui a demandé sil souffrait (verbe) TRADUIRE UN MOT ANGLAIS PAR PLUSIEURS MOTS EN (On nomme cette méthode « étoffement ») Ex :The doctor told him to cut down on the alcohol. Le médecin lui a dit de réduire sa consommation dalcool.

6 FAIRE ATTENTION AU PASSIF ! Dans certain cas on peut maintenir le passif : Ex :She will be operated on next Monday. Dans certains cas, lemploi du passif est à éviter: Ex : a) Bedridden patients must be washed on their bed. Pour les patients grabataires, la toilette doit se faire au lit b) To get their degree, student nurses are required to write a dissertation at the end of their three-year course. Pour obtenir leur diplôme, les étudiants en soins infirmiers doivent rédiger un mémoire.

7 Encore du Passif… Traduire le passif autrement Traduire par un verbe à lactif et remettre le complément dagent en position sujet : Ex :He will be examined by the doctor shortly. Le médecin va bientôt lexaminer. Remplacer le complément dagent qui nest pas mentionné par « on » Ex :Dont worry! He will be taken care of. Ne vous inquiétez pas! On va soccuper de lui. Traduire par un verbe pronominal Ex :He has a scar on his forehead but thanks to his hair, it cant be seen. Il a une cicatrice au front, mais grâce à ses cheveux, elle ne se voit pas...................................................................................................................

8 Le Passif - fin Traduire par faire + verbe (si la forme passive est précédée de « have ») Ex :If you suffer from hypertension, have your blood pressure checked regularly. Si vous êtes sujet à lhypertension, faites vérifier votre pression artérielle régulièrement. Exercice A: Traduisez les phrases suivantes : 1. Tablets can be replaced by suppositories when patients cannot swallow. 2. The doctor has been sent for. 3. Shellfish should be avoided if you suffer from gout.

There are three components to the STS National Database, each focusing on a different area of cardiothoracic surgeryAdult Cardiac, General Thoracic, and Congenital Heart Surgery, with the availability of Anesthesiology participation within the Congenital Heart Surgery Database. The Society has developed quality performance measures in all three sub-specialties of surgery, and these measures have either been endorsed or are in the process of being considered for endorsement by the National Quality Forum. By collecting outcomes data for submission to the STS National Database, surgeons are committing to improving the quality of care that their cardiothoracic surgery patients receive.quality performance measures

Launched in January 2011, STS Public Reporting Online enables Database participants to voluntarily report to the public their heart bypass surgery performance. Overall composite star ratings as well as their component ratings are listed on sts.org for more than 250 Database participants. The Adult Cardiac Surgery Database, now containing more than 4.5 million surgical records, represents an estimated 94 percent of all adult cardiac surgery centers across the U.S. With the success of participation nationally, STS launched in 2011 an initiative to accommodate Database participation worldwide by including international participants in the Adult Cardiac Surgery Database.STS Public Reporting Onlinests.org
