Infrastructure Convergée Web-Scale Serveur Stockage Totalement logiciel… Haute performance Mise à l’échelle linéaire VM-centric Key Points: Native convergence (or hyper-convergence) is critical in the modern datacenter Traditional three-tier architecture has scale-out compute (with virtualization) connected to scale-up storage The storage network adds latency and becomes a bottleneck, especially as flash storage becomes more prevalent in all storage systems Data has to be retrieved from storage every time some operation needs to be done in the server. This north-south traffic kills performance because it does not respect data gravity Deploying and scaling out storage is complex and error-prone Storage is managed in terms of LUNs and RAID sets, while Hyperviseurs talk about vdisks – different granularity Admins have to set up port bonding, multipathing, I/O mapping etc. to deploy the network Nutanix eliminates the complexity and bottleneck of the storage network and delivers a converged solution for virtual environments that can be scale out on demand
