A. Les infinitifs (Infinitives) An infinitive is… the name of a verb. It is the verb in its most basic form. It is the form that you will see in a French dictionary. No specific person is doing the action. Most of the time, in French, infinitives end in -r or -re. In English, we say to ___. For example… to study étudier to dance danser to swim nager

B. Expressing likes, dislikes and preferences about activities… Here, you will combine one of the following expressions with the infinitive of your choice to express things you like, prefer or dont like to do.

To ask if someone likes an activity… 1.Tu aimes…? – Do you like…? Ex. – Tu aimes étudier? Tu aimes voyager?

To tell what you like to do… 2.Jaime… - I like… Ex. –Jaime danser. Jaime chanter. 3.Jaime bien… - I really like… Ex. -Jaime bien regarder la télé. 4.Jadore… - I adore… (I love…) Ex. -Jadore écouter la musique.

To tell what you dont like to do… 5.Je naime pas… - I dont like… Ex. – Je naime pas manger les escargots. 6.Je déteste… - I hate… Ex. – Je déteste téléphoner!
