Adjectives that come AFTER the noun Most of the adjectives that we have learned in French come AFTER the noun. For example: Jai un tapis rouge. Carole est une fille sympa. Cest un chien intelligent.
Adjectives that come BEFORE the noun However, a few adjectives come before the noun that they describe just like in English. BAGS is an acronym that you can use to remember these adjectives. Adjectives dealing with (Beauty, Age, Goodness and Size) Beauty- beau/belle (beautiful), joli (pretty) Age- nouveau (new)/vieux (old) Goodness- bon (good) / mauvais (bad) Size- grand (big) / petit (small)
Formation of Beau, Nouveau and Vieux Masculine Singular (beau, nouveau and vieux) Maculine Plural- you need to add x (beaux, nouveaux, vieux) Feminine Singular- change eau to elle or eux to eille (belle, nouvelle, vieille) Feminine Plural- add an s to the feminine sing. form (belles, nouvelles, vieilles) Masculine Singular but Begins with a Vowel- write down the fem. singular form up to the 1 st L (bel, nouvel, vieil)
