Le palais de Dolmabahçe à Istamboul (Turquie), situé sur le côté européen du Bosphore, fut le principal centre administratif de l’empire Ottoman. Une loi qui prit effet le 3 Mars 1924 transféra la propriété du palais à l’héritage national de la nouvelle République de Turquie. La construction du palais coûta 5 millions de Mecidiye, monnaie ottomane, soit l’équivalent de 35 tonnes d’or. Quatorze de ces tonnes d’or furent utilisées pour la décoration des 15.000 mètres carrés du palais.. Dolmabahçe Palace in Istanbul, Turkey, located on the European side of Bosphorus, was the main administrative center of the Ottoman Empire. A law that took effect on March 3, 1924, transferred ownership of the palace to the national heritage of the new Republic of Turkey The construction, cost five million Mecidiye, Ottoman gold coin, the equivalent of 35 tons of gold. Fourteen of those tons of gold were used to gild the ceilings of the 45,000 square foot palace.

Dolmabahçe fut la résidence de six sultans, de 1856 juqu’à l’abolition du Califat, quand la république de Turquie fut fondée en Octobre 1923. Dolmabahçe was home to six Sultans, from 1856 until the abolition of the Caliphate, when the Republic of Turkey, was established in October 1923.

Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, fondateur et premier Président de la République Turque,utilisa le palais comme résidence présidentielle d’été d’où il promulgua quelques unes des plus importantes lois. Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the founder and first President of the Republic of Turkey, used the palace as presidential residence during the summers, where he passed some of the most important laws.

Il y passa les derniers jours de son traitement médical jusqu’à sa mort, le 10 Novembre 1938. He spent the last days of medical treatment in this palace, where he died on November 10, 1938
