Review of the EWC Directive Adoption of ETUC position: For a modern European Works Council (EWC) Directive in the Digital Era March 2017 The evaluation report (due in June 2016) still not published European Commission had informal exchanges with ETUC and Business Europe Commission’s officer in charge of the file announced No intention to change the Directive But to work on a (non-legally binding) ‘guidance document’ Since then In coordination with ETUC, we will continue to ask for: The publication of the evaluation report Enforcement of rights deriving from the existing EWC Directive (Top priority demand) And now?

The Commission dismissed our demands regarding the EWC Recast Directive The Commission is also late with its evaluation report of the Quality Framework of Restructuring (due in June 2016) The Commission 2018 Work Programme does not foresee any initiative on Information-Consultation-Participation rights Hence, nothing will happen until a new Commission is in place in Fall 2019 The European Pillar of Social Rights does not foresee any strengthening of I-C-P rights No new substantial nor legally-binding initiative has been taken to strengthen I-C-P rights since the adoption of the EWC Recast Directive in 2009 Statement of the COMPANY POLICY COMMITTEE calling for: 9 Nov. 2017
