Renaissance Spreads from Italy France In 1494, France invaded Italy. The French Kings were fascinated by Italian architecture, art, and fashion. In the early 1500’s, King François I arranged for Italian artists to work for him in France. He was the first person outside of Italy to collect Italian art and statues.
