Previous Knowledge You already know how to : Conjugate regular [-er / -ir / -re ] verbs in the present tense Use «ne … pas» to make a French structure negative

General Rule To make a verb negative, place: 1.«ne» before the verb 2.the negative word after the verb «ne» = «n» before a vowel, silent h or y

Strategic Positioning Elle ne parle pas français. 1 st part 2 nd part Verb

Negative (1): Not! Ne … Pas «ne» + verb + «pas» «n» + verb + «pas» -Je ne vais pas à un collège de garçons. -Nous nécoutons pas la musique en classe.

Negative (2): Never! Ne … jamais «ne» + verb + «jamais» «n» + verb + «jamais» -Vous ne faites jamais vos devoirs! -Elle naccepte jamais son invitation à sortir.

Negative (3): No more/longer! Ne … plus «ne» + verb + «plus» «n» + verb + «plus» -Il ny a plus de céréales. -M. Beauchamp ne travaille plus à la banque.
