Questions WHAT????

Quick review: we know how to make a sentence negative: Je vais ----> Je ne vais pas Personne ne va Rien ne va (theoretically)

How do you make the sentence into a question??

There are three ways: 1. Raising your tone of voice. This does not change the sentence at all. Je vais à lécole. Lécole would simply just be a higher tone than the other words.

Est-ce que II. Using the expression est-ce que. This expression is the french equivalent to the Spanish It literally means is it that It makes any sentence a question by going at the beginning of it.

Exemples: Je vais à lécole. To make this a question, simply put est-ce que at the beginning. Est-ce que Je vais à lécole?

Lets Try a few In your notes, make the following into questions: Tu aimes la musique. Il fait les erreurs. Nous lançons les pommes.

Pretty Simple, right? Est-ce que Tu aimes la musique? Est-ce que il fait des erreurs? Est-ce que Nous lançons les pommes?

The Last Way to make a question: III. Inversion This is where you take the subject: Je, Tu, Il, Elle, On, Nous, Vous, Ils, Elles And you switch it with the verb.

Par Exemple: Tu vas à lécole. Your subject is Tu The word after it is the verb. So, it would be Vas-Tu à lécole?

Plus dexemples Nous frappons la porte ---> frappons- nous la porte? Vous aimez la télé --> Aimez - vous la télé? Tu trouves la réponse --> Trouves- tu la réponse?

Try these in your notes: Tu vas à la boulangerie. Nous allons à la fête. Vous regardez le lac.

Les Réponses vas- tu à la boulangerie? allons -nous à la fête? regardez-vous le lac?

You go to interview for a job at Quick, the Belgian fast food restaurant. You have no idea about what youre doing. Make the following into questions for your interviewer.

Nous essuyons les tables.

Vous trouvez les rats.

Vous trouvez les enfants dans la cour.

Tu cusines les petits animaux.

Tu jettes le sac poubelle.

Nous chantons avant le travail (before work).

Vous gardez les animaux.

You find yourself sitting across a table at a café from someone you have never met. This person starts asking you questions, how do you respond?

Remember, these questions are going to say tu, or you. You want to respond with Je, or I.

First question: Aimes - tu la musique?

Fais - tu les devoirs(hw)?

Réponds - Tu à la question?

Regardes - tu la télé?

Aimes - tu les chevaux (horses)?
