Français I -re verbs
Many French verbs end in –re. Most –re verbs are regular, which means they follow a pattern, just like –er and –ir verbs. Remember… je –enous –ons tu –esvous –ez il –e ils –ent Remember… je –isnous –issons tu –isvous –issez il –it ils –issent
How to conjugate –re verbs: STEP 1: Drop –re from the infinitive (vendre) STEM : vend- STEP 2: Know the endings… je –snous –ons tu –svous –ez il --- ils –ent
STEP 3: Add the appropriate endings to the STEM: je vendsnous vendons tu vendsvous vendez il vend ils vendent Regular –re verbs are conjugated like vendre.
Other regular –re verbs: attendre – to wait, to wait for entendre – to hear perdre – to lose, waste rendre visite à – to visit (a person) répondre à – to answer vendre – to sell
