2 Qu’est ce que le CCAHT? C’est une organisation sans but lucratif incorporée au niveau fédéral, qui établit des normes de compétence professionnelle pour les hygiénistes du travail et les techniciens en hygiène du travail au Canada. L’accréditation décernée par le CCAHT autorise l’utilisation des désignations professionnelles et des titres suivants: Hygiéniste du travail agréé (ROHMD) Technicien en hygiène du travail agréé (ROHTMD)

3 Qu’est-ce que l’hygiène du travail?
“C’est une science et un art voués à l’anticipation, à l’identification, à l’évaluation et à la maîtrise des facteurs de risque environnementaux, présents dans les milieux de travail et qui peuvent causer des maladies professionnelles, nuire à la santé et au bien-être ou, causer de l’inconfort chez les travailleurs et les membres de la communauté.”

5 Mission du CCAHT Établir des niveaux minimum de compétences professionnelles et techniques et procéder à l’accréditation des candidats qualifiés; Établir les normes de pratique de même que définir et administrer un code d’éthique pour les professionnels canadiens de l’hygiène du travail; Favoriser la pratique et développer la profession dans le domaine de l’hygiène du travail au Canada.

6 Accréditation professionnelle
L’accréditation décernée par le CCAHT autorise l’utilisation de l’appellation et des titres suivants: Hygiéniste du travail agréé (ROHMD) Technicien en hygiène du travail agréé (ROHTMD)

1ère partie: Examens écrits Questions à choix multiple (demi-journée) Questions à développement (5) (demi-journée) 2e partie: Entrevue Le succès aux examens écrits est un prérequis The ROH examination process is predicated on the commonly-accepted education principle that there is no single examination format which can assess competence in factual and technical knowledge, as well as communication, technical and problem-solving skills, professional judgment and ethics. The examination is divided into 2 parts: Part I is a one-day written examination, one half of which is multiple choice, one half essay style questions. Equal weight is given to each of these components. The multiple choice section of the examination consists of approximately 130 questions, all of equal value. There is only one correct answer to each question and marks are given only for correct answers. In the essay-style component of the examination, candidates are presented with 5 questions of equal value. All 5 questions must be answered. Candidates must achieve a passing grade in each of the written examination components in order to successfully complete Part I. [Note: Candidates who hold the CIH designation in Comprehensive Practice from the American Board of Industrial Hygiene (ABIH) will be exempted from Part I]. Part II is an interview for those who successfully complete Part I. The interview is an assessment of the candidate’s competence through evaluation of his or her verbal responses to questions or scenarios put forward by a group of examiners. The interview is used to evaluate the candidates’ problem-solving skills, professional judgment, and communication skills and only lasts about an hour. CRBOH examination rationale and process is described here: Verma et al (1994) Evaluation of Professional Competency in Occupational Hygiene in Canada-The CRBOH Program, American Industrial Hygiene Association Journal, Volume 55, pp Occupational hygiene involves the identification of existing and potential health hazards in, or arising from the workplace, the evaluation or assessment of the extent of risk posed by the hazards and the development of effective strategies to eliminate or control the risks. For the ROH examination, it is expected that candidates will be familiar with a broad range of occupational hygiene topics identified by the CRBOH, including: air sampling, analysis and control measures for chemical hazards physics, measurement and control for physical agents such as noise, vibration, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation, temperature and pressure extremes, lighting industrial toxicology, the adverse health effects associated with the physical agents (as above) the rationale for occupational hygiene standard setting statistics, epidemiology, ergonomics, biohazards, hygiene program management, labour relations, safety and environmental issues, as they apply to the practice of occupational hygiene current topical issues in occupational hygiene Note: Les candidats possédant le titre CIH de l’ABIH sont soumis uniquement à la 2e partie: l’entrevue.

Completion of a community college occupational hygiene technology program may be accepted as equivalent to up to 2 years of experience. Completion of a community college program in a related science or engineering field may be accepted as equivalent to up to 1 year of experience. Completion of an equivalent of 2 years of a university undergraduate program of related sciences or engineering courses may be accepted as equivalent to up to 1 year of experience. More than 50% of each year for which credit is claimed will be spent in occupational hygiene or closely related activities. Two references from ROH’s or ROHT’s or other similarly accredited persons must be provided. 1 Deux (2) ans d’études universitaires en sciences reconnues ou en génie équivalent à une (1) année supplémentaire d’expérience. 2 L’expérience doit comporter un minimum de 50% du temps consacré à la pratique de l’hygiène du travail.

10 Processus d’examen ROHT
Les examens comportent deux volets: 200 questions à choix multiple (demi-journée) Questions à court développement (demi-journée) Section 2 - ROHT Examination Format The ROHT examination is a one day written examination consisting of multiple choice, short answer, and essay questions. The examination is administered concurrently with the annual offering of the ROH examination, and is a similar format to the ROH examination. There are two sessions, the first in the morning, and the second in afternoon. Both sessions run for a maximum duration of 3.5 hours. Session 1 – Short Answer/Essay This section consists of 2 full length essay questions and approximately 25 short answer/essay questions. Essay and short answer questions are individually weighted according to difficulty. All questions must be answered. Point form answers are not acceptable. Session 2 – Multiple Choice This section consists of approximately 150 multiple choice questions, all of equal value. The multiple choice section is designed to test factual and technical knowledge of candidates. The short answer/essay section, in addition to testing breadth and depth of factual and technical knowledge, enables an assessment of problem solving and written communication skills.

Direct professional activities toward the protection and improvement of the health, safety, and well-being of all persons. Make every reasonable effort to protect the environment from adverse effects resulting from the performance of their work. Perform their work honestly, objectively, and in accordance with currently accepted professional standards. Respect the privacy of confidential personal, professional, and business information. Participate only in projects or situations that do not place them in personal or business conflicts of interest. This provision is waived if the principal parties to the ROH's or ROHT's conflict of interest have given their informed, specifically expressed, consent. Conduct themselves with integrity. Maintain a working knowledge of current developments in the profession and a detailed knowledge of areas in which they claim expertise. Promote activities that advance and disseminate occupational hygiene knowledge. Co-operate with the directors of the Canadian Registration Board of Occupational Hygienists in administering this Code of Ethics. Adopted June 19, 1992
