2 Let’s start with what we know…
To be able to use the future tense you’ll need to remember the endings of the verb “avoir” (to have) in the present tense.

3 J’ …. 12 ans. J’ai 12 ans. Tu … quel âge. Tu as quel âge
J’ …. 12 ans. J’ai 12 ans. Tu … quel âge? Tu as quel âge? Il … un frère / Elle … une sœur. Il a un frère / Elle a une sœur.

4 Nous … un chien et un chat. Nous avons un chien et un chat
Nous … un chien et un chat. Nous avons un chien et un chat. Vous … l’heure? Vous avez l’heure? Ils/Elles … deux enfants. Ils/Elles ont deux enfants.

5 Formation of the Future Tense
Simply take the forms of the verb “avoir” (except “av-” in “nous avons/vous avez) and add them to the infinitive of the verb you want to use.

6 arriver Tu arriveras à quelle heure samedi prochain? J’arriverai à dix heures.

7 partir Nous partirons pour l’Italie le mois prochain. Vous partirez à quelle heure?

8 prendre Ils prendront le train ou l’avion? In the case of “-re” verbs the “-e” disappears.

9 Here are a few frequently used irregular verbs (1)
aller: the stem of the verb in the Future tense is “ir-”: L’année prochaine, j’irai en vacances à l’île Maurice faire: the stem of the verb in the Future tense is “fer-”: Paul ne fera pas de ski cet hiver.

10 Here are a few frequently used irregular verbs (2)
être: the stem of the verb is “ser-”: Le week end prochain nous serons à Bordeaux. avoir: the stem of the verb is “aur-”: Mes deux petits frères auront quatre ans le mois prochain.

11 Now compare the use of the verb “être” in 3 different tenses.
You often use the verb “être” to give simple opinions… Past tense (Imperfect) Present tense Future tense C’était génial C’est génial Ce sera génial

12 Now what if if you wanted to talk about what is going to happen…
… in that case, simply use the verb “aller” in the present tense followed by the infinitive (sleeping form) of the verb. But remember!! The verb “aller” is irregular…

13 Ce week end … Je vais prendre le bus Tu vas faire les courses? Il / elle va jouer au foot Nous allons faire du ski nautique Vous allez sortir? Ils / Elles vont se reposer.
