Given the extent of biodiversity loss and all threats to it, and loss of species as a result of human population growth and its impact, it is important to take protection and conservation measures to deal with this erosion. Many protective measures exist around the world to protect spaces and species, one of them Natural reserve; their purpose is to protect the natural environment, to manage the sites and to raise public awareness of how nature works and how important it is.

A nature reserve is an area of land that is protected and managed for various ecological reasons. It could be designated to protect and reserve wildlife, flora, fauna, geological features or other special interest that plays a part in our ecosystem and Earth’s biodiversity. Habitats that has its flora and fauna near endangerment are of a particular concern. They are often protected and conserved in nature reserves to prevent them from extinction and also to provide study, research and nature appreciation opportunities.

In 1912 Charles Rothschild founded the Society for the Promotion of Nature Reserves (which later became The Wildlife Trusts), and first proposed the idea of seeking out the best places for wildlife in Britain and promoting them as ‘nature reserves’. Areas had been set aside for wildlife before, but these were chiefly sanctuaries where the killing of wildlife was controlled or banned altogether. In contrast, Rothschild saw his reserves as examples of the very best places for the whole complexity of nature, and a defence against changing land use that was destroying more and more natural habitats.

Conserve small, isolated resources Protect rare or endangered native plants or animals in their natural habitats Provide examples of ecosystems that have been modified by humans Provide areas suitable for scientific research and education Protect representative examples of natural ecosystems

The fauna of the park includes several rare and threatened species. So far there have been found at least 68 species of mammals, 422 birds, over 40 reptiles, 18 amphibians, and 250 butterfly species.

the largest natural park in the world. It is declared, since 1977, World Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO. Represents 44.85% of the territory of the island.

Although the bulk of its area is covered by ice caps inhospitable to most forms of life, Greenland’ s terrain and waters support a wide variety of plant and animal species. The northeastern part of the country is the world's largest national park. The flora and fauna of Greenland are strongly susceptible to changes associated with climate change

Is a national park of Namibia encompassing part of the Namib Desert (considered the world's oldest desert) the Namib-Naukluft is the largest game park in Africa and the fourth largest in the world

This huge area is also home to many desert adapted wildlife and bird species, such as Oryx, Mountain Zebra, Springbok, Ostrich, African Wild cat, leopards and even the endangered cheetah, with various endemic bird species, such as the rare Dune Lark. ‘Namib' means open space and the Namib Desert gave its name to form Namibia – "land of open spaces".

Is a national park located in the Middle Atlas mountain range, Ifrane National Park covers 51,800 hectometers of the largest cedar forests in Morocco and the world as well as rivers, lakes and volcanic plateaus. Ifrane National Park is one of the few remaining habitats for the Barbary macaque, Macaca sylvanus

The national park of Souss Massa extends on the coastal fringe of Souss Massa, between Agadir and Tiznit. It occupies a territory dominated by dune landscapes, and characterized by the diversity of natural habitats and the richness of species of fauna and flora remarkable, endemic, rare or threatened. Argan, cedar, Macaronesian plant species such as Euphorbia...

The park also includes a world-class wetland that has been on the Ramsar Conservation List since 2005 The park's main conservation importance is that it holds three of the four Moroccan colonies of the northern bald ibis (Geronticus eremita).

It is the first park created in Morocco. It dates from 1942 and covers an area of 36000ha. Its vocation is the conservation and protection of the natural landscapes of the summit of Toubkal and the biodiversity living in its surroundings, especially the thurifer and some raptors

Of a richness and a unique biodiversity, this park covered with a shimmering forest consisting mainly of holm oaks, thuya and genevriers, hosts a large population of Cuvier's gazelles, cottontail muffins and lynx.

Mogador island is the main island of the Iles Purpuraires near Essaouira in Morocco. It is about 3 kilometers long and 1.5 kilometers wide, and lies about 1.5 kilometers from Essaouira

Eleonore's falcon is a species of raptor that is essentially migratory. It winters in Madagascar, but between April and October, these raptors go back to Morocco, more precisely on the island of Mogador, where they come to breed.

Natural reserves are natural environments that must be protected from natural degradation and removed from any artificial intervention that may alter its diversity, appearance, composition and evolution. all the different nature reserves to preserve all types of fauna and flora around the world. But are these reserves enough to protect biodiversity in the world?
