 Research shows that when you begin to learn a new language, it helps to choose a new name too!  Choosing a French first name is your first step toward becoming French!  NOTE: There will only be one person with any particular name in each class... So choose quickly! CHOISIR UN PRÉNOM

 On the front of your index card, write you FRENCH first name, your REAL first name in parentheses, and your REAL last name.  Example:  Jean-Paul  (Andrew)  Williams INDEX CARDS

 On the back of your index card, think about and respond to the following questions: 1.Why are you taking French? 2.Do you already know any French? If so, how much and how did you learn it? 3.What do you like about learning language? 4.What do you dislike about learning language? 5.What are your strengths and weaknesses in language learning? 6.Is there anything else I, as your teacher, need to know about you?  Take a few minutes to separate a piece of paper into the 26 letters of the alphabet, and leave lots of room for each letter.  Silently, individually brainstorm any and all words you can think of in French that begin with that letter, and list them next to the letter.  We will go around the room, and see who can last the longest...
