Les professions

In France, it is not generally polite to ask someone what they do for a living, as this is considered irrelevant where individual worth is concerned—especially in a nation where all citizens are equal. The notion is simply that no matter what you do, it should be done well, and that’s all. Unlike in the United States, it is never polite to ask someone what they earn. The following images represent various professions. Be sure that you can name each of them.

un policier / un agent de police

un agent de voyage

un architecte

un chef de cuisine

un cuisinier

le dentiste

un étudiant

un entrepreneur / une entrepreneuse

un ingénieur

un médecin

un pilote

une professeuse

un secrétaire

un professeur
