Combine avoir and the participe passé and you get the passé composé : Jai gagné le match. = I won the game. Tu as gagné le match. = You won the game. Elle a gagné le match. = She won the game. To make a negative in the past tense, you place ne…pas around avoir. Est-ce que tu as fini tes devoirs? (Did you finish your homework?) Non, je nai pas fini mes devoirs. (No, I didnt finish my homework.)
