Guiding Questions What items should we avoid to stay healthy? What does it mean to be healthy? What other factors contribute to our health besides what we eat and drink? Similarities? Differences? How does culture affect diet? What items should we eat or drink to stay in good health? What choices make one country healthier than another? What is health?

My Plate Make half your plate fruits and vegetables. Make half your grains whole. Vary your proteins. Choose skim or 1% milk. Choose foods and drinks with little to no added sugars. (Men: 37.5 g or 9 tsp.) (Women: 25 g or 6 tsp) Watch out for salt. Enjoy your food, but eat less. Cook more at home instead of eating out. 60 minutes of exercise per day.
