Transcription de la présentation:

Past tense: Le Passé Composé Starring regular “er” verbs.

The following sentences are written in the past tense. J’ai regardé la télé. (I watched TV) Il a parlé au téléphone. (He talked on the phone.) Tu as bien mangé? (Did you eat well?)

Can you figure out how to form the past tense of “er” verbs? J’ai écouté de la musique (écouter). J’ai nagé à la piscine (nager). J’____________(étudier) hier soir. J’ai étudié hier soir. J’____________(parler) au téléphone. J’ai parlé au téléphone. Noticing a pattern yet?

Step 1: Use the correct form of “avoir” with your subject. j’ai tu as il/elle/on a nous avons vous avez ils/elles ont

ex: parler becomes parlé Step 2: For regular “er” verbs, drop the”r” and add an accent aigu to the final “e”. ex: parler becomes parlé I spoke (J’ai parlé). ex : nager becomes nagé He swam( Il a nagé).

If it didn’t happen… If you want to say that something did not happen, place the n(e)’….pas around the form of “avoir” ex: Je n’ai pas nagé. (I didn’t swim.) ex: Nous n’avons pas dansé vendredi soir. (We didn’t dance Friday evening.)

Let’s see what you can do : 1. J’____________ un sandwich au jambon. (manger) 1. J’ai mangé un sandwich au jambon. (manger)

2. Nous _____________ au volleyball. (jouer) 2. Nous avons joué au volleyball. (jouer)

4. Tu ________________ hier soir ? (étudier) 4. Tu as étudié hier soir ? (étudier)

3. Hier soir, ils ___________ un match de football. (regarder) 3. Hier soir, ils ont regardé un match de football. (regarder)

C’est facile, n’est pas?
