1 L’Imparfait Verbes: pg

2 The imparfait is used to express habitual, repeated actions in the past or emotional/physical states in the past. Ex: parlons finissons vendons avons jouons dormons To form the stem, take the “nous” form of the present tense & drop the “–ons”.

3 -ais -ions -iez -ait -aient Add the following endings:
Ex: Nous parlions en français. Vous aviez seize ans. J’aimais le prof d’histoire.

4 The stem for être is ét. j’étais nous étions tu étais vous étiez
The only irregular verb in the imparfait is être… who else? The stem for être is ét. j’étais nous étions tu étais vous étiez on/il/elle était ils/elles étaient

5 examples Mme Baldwin était le prof. Nous étions ses élèves favoris. Il n’était pas dans ma classe.

6 Conjugate: parler, avoir, finir, vendre, étudier, & dormir
