Reference-based numbers and tags automatically receive a suffix to ensure unique names (i.e. 406, 406A, 406B) and numbering conventions are flexible enough to meet most design requirements. AutoCAD Electrical can determine if an inserted wire number will “bump” into anything and will automatically search laterally along the wire for a clear spot to land the wire number. If no clear spot is found, AutoCAD Electrical continues to search for a clear spot away from the wire, and when found, automatically draws a ladder back to the wire. Benefit: Automatically assigns wire numbers and component tags in your drawings and reduces time spent tracking design changes, resulting in fewer errors.

Reports can be placed into a drawing as a smart table object that can be easily updated at a later time or be saved to a file. AutoCAD Electrical supports saving reports out into ASCII, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Access, CSV or XML formats. In addition, once the drawings are created, the I/O information with descriptions can be exported to a format that most PLC programming software packages can read in.
