Scintillating Fiber Tracker Eight axial and eight stereo layers VLPC readout at 8K Performing well good light yield layer > 98% After November 2003 shutdown ~ 1% of VLPC channels not functional was 0.1% before November a one-time event water contamination in cryostat? This shutdown warmed up 1 (of 2) cryostats (major shutdown activity #1) pumped out 0.5l H20 Upon cool down same loss rate BUT different channels Will not seriously degrade performance but is a worry.
Calorimeter Liquid argon calorimeter with uranium absorber 50k channels, 99+% Intermittent noise problems During shutdown restored platform isolation (major activity #2) Removed nearly 20 dead shorts - welding noise down four orders of mag. J/ and from EM clusters

THE PROBLEM Slava 10% of the collected events (at 40•1030cm-2s-1) have 1 or more ADCs with occupancy in EM part more than 20% at RMS 5 counts OR 1 or more ADCs with occupancy more than 40% and RMS < 10 counts NUMBER OF ADC PER EVENT WITH OCCUPANCY MORE THAN 40% AND RMS < 10 COUNTS This “noise” is luminosity dependent 5.6% of noise lum ~ 41•1030 2.6% of noise lum ~ 10.5 • 1030 Target as “coherent noise ” with current criteria
10% of the collected events (at 40•1030cm-2s-1) have 1 or more ADCs with occupancy in EM part more than 20% at RMS 5 counts OR 1 or more ADCs with occupancy more than 40% and RMS < 10 counts The typical observed mean value near 10 counts (up to 20 counts) Can be subtracted following Slava’s criteria ADC occupancy > 20% and RMS < 10

Conclusion..provisoire Junjie la calo marche bien: ped stables bruit en amélioration (?) bonne équipe (CALOP) mais peu de français performances en dessous du Run I même avec la nouvelle calibration en phi largeur du Z ~2.8 GeV (due à la résolution) C~3.8% ~< si sampling term = 20%/sqrt(E)
