Les Questions dInformation

Information Questions Information questions are open-ended. They request new information and cannot be answered with a simple yes or no. Ex. What time does school start? Where do you live? How many languages do you speak?

You will need the following questions words to ask information type questions: A quelle heure? Où Comment? Que Quand? Pourquoi? (parce que) At what time? Where? How? What? When? Why? (because)

To ask information questions, you can always use est-ce que. Que becomes Qu before est-ce que. Ex.Où est-ce que tu travailles? Pourquoi est-ce que Paul parle à Marie? Quest-ce que tu regardes? In casual conversation, you will also hear à quelle heure, quand, où and comment at the end to ask a question. Ex.Tu travailles quand? Elle arrive quand?

Ask the following questions using: Question word + est-ce que + person + activity 1.Where are you playing soccer? 2.Where does Lydia live? 3.When are we singing? 4.At what time do you work? 5.How does Paul dance? 6.Why are you studying? 7.What is Ann eating? Où est-ce que tu joues au foot? Où est-ce que Lydia habite? Quand est-ce que nous chantons? A quelle heure est-ce que tu travailles? Comment est-ce que Paul danse? Pourquoi est-ce que tu étudies? Quest-ce que Ann mange?
