The Beatles' biography The four Beatles –John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr- were all born in Liverpool. John, Paul and George grew up in Liverpool. They went to school there. John lived with his aunt Mimi and his uncle. His mother Julia lived next to him and he often saw her. Julia bought him his first guitar. Paul was good at school and he loved music. His mother died when he was 14. One day his father offered him a guitar. George was the youngest of the 4 boys. Everybody called him “baby brother”. He loved playing the guitar too. Ringo’s parents divorced. He lived with his mother and his stepfather. He had tuberculosis and stayed at the hospital for a long time. They created “the Beatles” in 1962. Ringo played the drums, George and Paul played the guitar, John sang. John and Paul wrote the songs. They had a lot of success but they split up in 1970. 1.
