Joining the OPIRG Board Rejoindre le Conseil d’administration de GRIPO

 Les principes: la justice sociale, économique et environnementale  Sur le campus d’UOttawa depuis 1988  Activités de GRIPO ◦ Les groupes d’action ◦ La programme de recherche ◦ Le centre des ressources ◦ Le financement et l’aide des activistes à Ottawa  Des membres ◦ Les étudiant.e.s et les membres de la communauté  Des employé.es  Le réseau des GRIPs  Le conseil administratif- c’est peut-être vous! C’est quoi GRIPO?

 Le Conseil administratif de GRIPO engage, supervise et évalue le personnel. Le Conseil détermine la programmation, les priorités, le budget, ainsi que les politiques de GRIPO avec la participation du personnel.  Les membres du Conseil sont élus(ues) pour un mandat d’au moins un an  Compétences essentielles ◦ Doit être capable de fonctionner en français et anglais ou être prête/prêt à prendre un cours afin de devenir bilingue ◦ Doit être membre de GRIPO-Ottawa ◦ Doit s'engager à rester au moins un an avec le Conseil ◦ Doit pouvoir et être prête/prêt a participer une fin de semaine de formation (voyage et logis pris en charge par GRIPO) ◦ Doit être prête/ prêt à défendre et de promouvoir le mandat ainsi que les politiques de GRIPO Ottawa ◦ Doit vouloir travailler selon le processus de consensus ◦ Doit consacrer environ 2-5 heures par semaine aux responsabilités du Conseil Information Général

 Directors of a non-profit organization may be held legally liable for their actions. It is the responsibility of each and every board member to:  Uphold the constitution, by-laws, goals and objectives of the organization  Have full knowledge and clear understanding of board and operations policies, procedures and standards  Act honestly, in good faith and in the best interest of the organization  Avoid making a profit from the organization  Manage the organization’s finances properly and be accountable for all income and expenditures  Act within the purposes of the organization A note on Indemnity: Although PIRGs indemnify their board members (this means that if you get sued the PIRG will pay you back), board members are not indemnified from consequences of their own wrongdoing.  4 seats available  9 members of the board; 5 staying from last year  Who is eligible to vote? ◦ Undergraduate students who have not gotten the refund and who are not special students ◦ Full-time graduate students ◦ Community members who have paid the membership fee 20 days before elections  Each member of OPIRG has a single vote but can vote “yes” or “no” for any of the candidates. “No” votes count just as much as a “yes” vote  Board members are elected for a one-year term, but it is renewable for another year without re-election Board Elections

Submit your nomination form before April 2nd at 5:30 to the OPIRG office with the signatures of 5 other OPIRG members Ensure you are a member of OPIRG You will get a receipt and sign an agreement form You have from now until 7:30 on Thursday April 9th (an hour into the AGM) to campaign Your platforms can be posted on social media, and on the OPIRG website. Voting will take place from 11a.m.- 6 p.m. in front of the SFUO office on April 9th, and also from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in UCU 215, while the AGM is taking place The results will be announced hopefully at the AGM, and if not, they will be posted on the OPIRG website and social media Board Elections (Continued)

 OPIRG’s Annual General Meeting is Thursday April 9th at 6:30 in UCU 215.  It would be amazing if you could attend and introduce yourself and your platform  You can also see what OPIRG and its action groups have been up to all year  Aaand, there will be free food!
