2 2x2 3x3 4x4 Start with creating or copying buttons onto the grid. Create, insert or copy buttons on the grid. Scale them as necessary to fit in the grid. Smallest button=2 x 2 on the grid. Any size or shape equal or greater than a 2 x 2 button is possible. You may use a default PowerPoint button from the Draw Toolbar: “AutoShapes > Basic Shapes” . Use ‘Fill Color’ and ‘Line Color’ to adjust the button color. You may also scale them, or insert button designs from other design applications (use menu selection: “Insert” > “Picture” > “From File”.) In order to create your own faceplate, you must delete the 5 sample buttons on the template above. **PLEASE REFER TO THE NOTES ON THE LAST PAGE REGARDING THE SELECTION, CONFIGURATION AND USAGE OF TD 200C SYSTEM KEYS. Once all buttons are placed create a background which must cover the entire white area of the above image. Create a Rectangle using the draw toolbar, then drag and stretch it the over the entire keypad area. Right-mouse click on the rectangle, select ‘Format AutoShape’, select ‘Colors & Lines’ tab, Then select a background color, pattern or texture. Close the dialog box. Remove any background border lines: Click on image, then click the ‘Line Color’ (lower menu) and select ‘No Line’ Set the rectangle as the lower layer of the faceplate design: Right click on the rectangle, select “Order” > “Send to Back”. You may insert pictures, logos, or custom designed buttons and backgrounds on your design. To insert PowerPoint Clip Art, or an image from another file, select the menu item: “Insert” > “Picture” > “From File” and make your selection. You may insert text onto buttons or backgrounds of your design. From the lower toolbar, select (click) the text box: After clicking the text box, position the cursor on the keypad area where the text should be positioned. Start typing the text. To change the text style, click on the text field (to select it), then click on the ‘Font’ listbox in the toolbar to highlight it, then scroll through the different text styles and select the one you want to use. To change the text size, select the different size from the FontSize list box that is typically located in the toolbar to the right of the Font list box. 5. You must save this file as a bitmap. Select: “File” > “Save As”. On the file dialog then select BMP as the file type and then save the file. Make sure the PowerPoint file is open on the slide that contains your faceplate. When you select the File > Save As menu option, a prompt will ask if you only want to save the entire set of slides. Select ‘No’

3 ADDTIONAL NOTES: You must import this image into the TD Keypad Designer in order to: confirm button sizes are correct, and to confirm the buttons are positioned correctly (they must match the button outlines in your .TD2 file), and to assign a S7-200 PLC function to each button. Saving PowerPoint images as a bitmap may cause loss in resolution from the original images. There are two ways to print: Save as a bitmap (as explained on the previous page), Import it into Keypad Designer, and print from the TD Keypad Designer. Save as a bitmap (as explained on the previous page), Insert the image into the TD 200C WORD template, and print onto A4-sized blank faceplate material (A4-sized blank faceplate material is sold separately from Siemens for those who need to print multiple copies of their TD 200C faceplate). Different versions of Microsoft operating systems and PowerPoint applications may vary slightly from the behaviors explained in this note. This note serves as a guide for helping you understand the necessary steps for creating the faceplate design using a commonly used office application.

If your custom keypad has the ESC, ENTER, and Arrows keys in the same positions as they are found on standard TD 200/C models, then use of the ‘standard template’ is not necessary. In this case, you can simply use the mentioned system keys on your custom keypad while the TD is in the ‘default configuration mode’.
